Cardano Vasil hard fork dates
Cardano developer Input Output has confirmed that, after “extensive testing” of all key components, the Vasil upgrade will arrive on September 22. Ahead of the much anticipated upgrade, Cardano analytics platform Cexplorer shares important dates for users to watch out for. First, on September 19, the mainnet update proposal will be available to trigger the hard fork event on September 22.
Final preparations before Vasil

IOG states that the Vasil ability will be available on September 27. The Plutus V2 Cost Model will also be available on the mainnet on this date.
In the latest IOG report on ecosystem readiness, 97% of mainnet blocks are already ready by Vasil node candidate 1.35.3. This indicates that the “node readiness” metric has already been met. Also, seven of the top twelve exchanges by liquidity, namely Binance, Upbit, MEXC, Bitrue, AAX, WhiteBIT and BKEX, indicated that Vasil is ready.
Coinbase and three other top twelve exchanges are currently updating their node operators. Eleven other exchanges state that Vasil is ready, while others are in the process of updating their nodes. Six of the top ten Cardano dApps reached pre-production ‘tested’ status, while others remained in the ‘testing phase’.
Cardano celebrates Alonzo’s first anniversary
Cardano celebrated the first anniversary of the Alonzo upgrade released on the mainnet on September 12. Bringing Plutus smart contract capabilities to the Cardano network, the upgrade provided a number of new use cases for dApps, DEXs and DeFi solutions.
Since the Alonzo HFC event took place, Cardano has seen over 3,000 Plutus scripts (smart contracts) added.
