An MMO for the Nintendo Switch 2
A few days ago, Nintendo shocked fans by initiating an enigmatic testing phase on Nintendo Online, without specifying the game under assessment. Recent leaks have hinted that Nintendo might be working on an MMO. Early images suggest a collaborative model where players must band together to nurture a planet. Each planetary segment can be improved using a light (beacon) that players must strategically place to purify and develop the land. In a manner reminiscent of Minecraft, images depict various block-like structures that players can construct within their private realms. Additionally, the publisher has mentioned a concept of a ‘public playground’, although limited visuals have been provided.
A Launch Title for the Switch 2?
Another aspect of the leak presents a more vibrant and dynamic space—a hub where players can interact with one another. The avatars depicted have a slight resemblance to those from Fall Guys. Preliminary insights indicate that this mysterious title could feature a leveling mechanism based on ‘connection points’, attained through regular interactions between players. At this point, the details are sparse, but they hint at a considerable project for Nintendo, potentially serving as a staple throughout the lifecycle of the Switch 2 and possibly even functioning as one of its launch games. However, given the recent leak, Nintendo might reconsider its strategy or expedite its development plans. More information will likely emerge during the official Playtest phase, scheduled to take place from October 23 to November 5 on the Online service, exclusively for selected players.
