Nikos Aliagas, a prominent figure in French media, began his career in journalism with Euronews in 1993. He gained fame as the host of Star Academy from 2001 to 2008 and currently leads shows like 50 Minutes Inside and The Voice. Residing in Fontenay-sous-Bois, he cherishes his Parisian lifestyle while maintaining a strong connection to his Greek roots, owning a family home in Missolonghi, Greece, where he enjoys rustic getaways with his partner and children.

Early Life and Career of Nikos Aliagas

Nikos Aliagas, born in Paris in 1969 to Greek parents, embarked on his journalism journey in 1993 with Euronews, where he served as a political reporter until 1999. Concurrently, he was a familiar face on TMC, presenting the news. His big break came in 2001 when he hosted the inaugural season of Star Academy, a reality show that captivated audiences until its conclusion in 2008. This pivotal role significantly elevated his profile, making him a household name.

Current Projects and Personal Life

In 2009, Nikos became a prominent figure on the show 50 Minutes Inside, where he interviews A-list celebrities. He is also the beloved host of the annual NRJ Music Awards and the popular singing competition, The Voice. As of 2022, he has returned to host Star Academy, which has regained its popularity on TF1. On the personal front, Nikos is in a relationship with Tina Grigoriou, a psychologist of Greek descent. Together, they have two children: an 11-year-old daughter, Agathe, and a son named Andréas, born in October 2016.

Nikos Aliagas has called Paris home for many years, primarily due to the proximity to his work at various TV and radio studios. He resides in a charming apartment within a lovely residence located in Fontenay-sous-Bois, Val-de-Marne. In early 2024, he experienced a failed burglary attempt, thwarted by the apartment’s alarm system.

While he cherishes his life in the capital, Nikos has expressed his fondness for certain Parisian locales, such as Canal Saint Martin and Montmartre. He once remarked, “It’s quite silly, it’s what tourists look for… By no longer liking what tourists like, we forget the original DNA of Paris.” Despite his Parisian affection, he maintains a strong connection to his Greek heritage, owning a holiday home in Greece.

When not fulfilling his professional duties in Paris, Nikos enjoys unwinding at his family’s secondary residence in Missolonghi, situated in the Etolie-Acarnanie region, which has historical ties to his ancestry. He shared that this family home remains untouched and offers a rustic escape. “We have kept it as it is and I go there a few days a year with my wife and children,” he disclosed in an interview with Gala in July 2022.

The property, with limited electricity and no modern amenities, features outdoor toilets and a dark stone kitchen, remnants from the late 13th century when it served as a refuge during conflicts. This unique home, brimming with history, allows Nikos and his family to recharge away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
