Dusseldorf In July 2016, Juliane Gundelach (name changed) had her first day as a trainee at the Axel Springer Academy. In October, she is said to have gotten much closer to the then editor-in-chief of Bild.de, Julian Reichelt, than her employment contract provided for. This is the result of a lawsuit that Gundelach has just filed against the publisher.

The complaint, which is available to the Handelsblatt, contains around a dozen allegations against Gundelach’s former employer. These include: sexual harassment, failure to provide assistance and unfair pay.

Sexual assault lawsuits are always critical for businesses. This is particularly sensitive for Axel Springer because it could not be negotiated in Berlin but in California – a legal area with almost unlimited amounts of damages.

This was made possible because the plaintiff last reported from San Francisco for the “Bild”.
