New Judge of FTX Case Announced

According to a new report published in Reuters, one of the world’s largest agencies based in the UK, Sam Bankman-Fried is on trial. FTX The new judge has been announced in the case. Lewis Kaplan has been appointed to replace district judge Ronnie Abrams, who abruptly withdrew from the case last Friday.

Former judge of the case, Ronnie Abrams, resigned voluntarily for the sake of the process after it was revealed that his wife was a partner at a firm that provided legal advice to FTX in 2021. Abrams made the following statement on Friday:

“My husband has no direct affiliation with the FTX exchange. However, I am making the decision to withdraw from this case in order to avoid any possible doubt.”

The new judge, Lewis Kaplan, is a well-known name in the legal community. Kaplan has played a controlling role in major defamation cases against Donald Trump in the past.

Sam Bankman-Fried, the ex-boss of the ailing crypto exchange FTX, was arrested by Bahamian law enforcement on December 12. Although the SBF refused extradition in its early days, he agreed to go to the USA due to the poor prison conditions in the country.

In the hearing, which began in the United States last week, it was decided that Bankman-Fried be tried pending a $250 million bail.
