new York In anticipation of more cautious rate hikes by the Federal Reserve, US stock markets rose on Tuesday. However, unconfirmed reports of deaths in Poland from suspected misguided Russian missiles slowed gains in late trade. The Dow Jones index of standard values closed 0.2 percent higher at 33,592 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq advanced 1.5 percent to 11,358 jobs. The broad S&P 500 rose 0.9 percent to 3,991 points.
In the meantime, the indices had been clearly in the plus. But then in the evening (CET) the Polish fire brigade announced that two people had died in an explosion in Przewodow near the Ukrainian border. The Polish radio station ZET reported that the cause was two stray Russian missiles. The US said it could not confirm this and Russia denied the reports.
