New cornering light patent and LiDar systems!

Apple is running a file called Project Titan related to the automobile project. So far, a total of 149 patents have been included in this file. The last application made to the World Intellectual Property Organization is about cornering lights. With this equipment, which will make the car even safer, Apple Car’s 150th patent has also been received.

This new lighting system, which will be integrated with autonomous driving, was designed by Apple engineers. The new lighting group, which is basically a smart headlight system, is designed to provide active lighting throughout the vehicle. With this new system, Apple Car also had lighting that changes “angle according to the environment, light intensity” called dynamic.

The system basically consists of 3 stages. Like today’s cars, it has a low and high beam range. In addition to these, it has a 3rd stage called cornering lighting. A system with 2 enclosures holds these 3 lighting groups. And by combining these 2 enclosures, Apple obtains the headlight assembly of the Apple Car model.

A familiar supplier for LiDar!

As it is known, Apple Car will be a car with an autonomous driving system. Autonomous driving is a system that can be used through advanced radar and sensors. Apple is also doing the necessary work for these sensors and radar systems. According to the latest news, a supplier already producing for Apple will produce these systems.

The laser radar system called LiDar, namely “Light Detection and Ranging or Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging”, will be used in vehicles. LiDar sensors send infrared rays from various parts of the vehicle and create instant maps according to where these rays hit and return. Thanks to these maps, the autonomous driving Apple Car continues on its way without hitting any obstacles.
