Munich The new boss of Knorr-Bremse, Marc Llistosella, wants to “bring the supplier group back to its old strength”. To this end, the manager plans to review the structure of the group, which is geared towards truck and train brakes, as he tells the Handelsblatt in his first interview after taking office.

The fact that Knorr- Bremse specialized in these two divisions “was one of Thiele’s brilliant ideas,” says Llistosella about the company’s founder and majority shareholder, Heinz Hermann Thiele, who died in 2021. “But I don’t want any bans on thinking, we have to put all our cards on the table. And then we see what makes business sense.”

According to Llistosella, one possibility could be virtual IPOs, such as those that VW boss Oliver Blume has brought into play for the Wolfsburg car manufacturer’s individual brands. That means at Volkswagen: All subsidiaries are to play through a possible IPO, which could be followed by real IPOs like Porsche.
