Moscow After almost a month’s hiatus due to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and Western sanctions against Russia, the Moscow Stock Exchange resumes trading. This Thursday, however, not all shares are to be traded, only those of 33 companies.

These include papers from the gas monopoly Gazprom, the oil company Lukoil and the state airline Aeroflot, according to the central bank, according to the state agency TASS. Short selling is therefore prohibited.

Initially, a shortened trading day from 9:50 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (local time, 7:50 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CET) is planned.

Trading was halted when Russia’s main stock index, RTS, fell sharply shortly after the Russian attack on Ukraine on February 24. Russian government bonds have been trading again since March 21st.
