new York According to an insider, the US bank Morgan Stanley has recently cut around 1,600 jobs as a result of the slump in investment banking. It is about two percent of the more than 81,000 employees worldwide, said a person familiar with the processes on Tuesday the Reuters news agency.

The broadcaster CNBC first reported on the dismantling at Morgan Stanley. A spokesman declined to comment to CNBC. In an interview at a conference last week, Morgan Stanley boss James Gorman announced that a “small” number of jobs would be cut.

Most recently, the US banks Goldman Sachs and Citigroup had already cut jobs. The interest rate hike by the central banks has recently slowed the business with mergers and acquisitions at most banks.
