Migrants, Energy Prices, Inflation – The Abandoned Government – Politics Abroad

Some are almost gone, the others NOT YET HERE. Germany’s government is de facto a void, it is leaving its citizens in the lurch.

And that at least until Nikolaus – only THEN, after the end of the coalition negotiations, the traffic light replacement should come, Olaf Scholz (63, SPD) will be elected Chancellor.

The huge problems at Germany’s borders and in the economy do not allow any delay. BILD says where the old and the new government must now act together!

ENERGY PRICES

The gas trading prices have quadrupled since the beginning of the year and the electricity exchange price has doubled. Energy suppliers announce price increases of up to 120%!

At the petrol stations, too, fuel prices keep reaching new record levels! “Politicians are in a dilemma,” says Thilo Schaefer (44) from the Institut der Deutschen Wirtschaft (IW): On the one hand, the energy turnaround should save the climate, but it also makes energy more and more expensive – a dilemma.

Nevertheless, the government should cushion “the consequences for consumers and industry” JUST NOW. For example, immediately remove the EEG allowance for renewable energies: “If the levy does not apply, a family of four could save up to 500 euros.”

REFUGEES

The number of immigrants to Germany and the EU is growing significantly for the first time since the refugee crisis (2015/16). Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (72, CSU) warned BILD LIVE that there were “for the first time in many years over 1000 immigrants a day”.

Particularly dramatic: the situation on the Polish border with Belarus. Poland is trying – with partly controversial means – to cope with the onslaught. Nevertheless, since the beginning of the month more than 4,200 refugees have made it to Germany via the Belarus route. Seehofer warns: If necessary, border controls with Poland are necessary. The traffic light coalition would have to “face reality”. HE be ready to talk …

CDU interior expert Christoph de Vries (46) to BILD: “The traffic light coalition are well advised to accept the offer of the interior minister to talk.”

INFLATION

Prices rose 4.5 percent in October compared to the previous year – the highest inflation in 28 years! The result: an expensive hammer for industry and consumers.

Alarm also for pensioners, whose retirement provision has been shrinking for years due to the negative interest rate – and are now also being fleeced by rising prices!

Carsten Brzeski, ING’s chief economist, fears that the inflation rate could climb to five percent. Brzeski calls for help from politics, as in France, Spain, Italy. His recipe: “Energy checks” or tax breaks, “so that low-wage earners can continue to pay their bills.”
