The film is about young art teacher Samet (Deniz Celiloğlu), who has finished his compulsory service in a remote village in Turkey and loses hope of leaving until he meets another teacher, Nuray (Merve Dizdar).
Nuri Bilge Ceylan, the director of the film, said in a statement that he wanted the film to reflect the gradual decline in personal beliefs of civil servants and teachers who were sent to remote areas at an early age.
