Dusseldorf The communications consultancy Finsbury Glover Hering (FGH) has gained another top manager. The former head of planning and media in the Chancellery, Eva Christiansen, will become a new partner in the company at the beginning of July. In the future, she will advise executives on their public positioning as well as companies and organizations in transition on reputation issues.

FGH is one of the world’s largest companies for strategic communication and public affairs and was formed at the beginning of 2021 from the merger of three providers: Hering Schuppener from Germany joined forces with long-standing partners Finsbury from London and Glover Park from the USA.

Christiansen joins the more than 100-strong FGH team in Berlin. The consulting company relies on the experience of the 52-year-old in politics and on her network. The graduate economist was considered one of Angela Merkel’s closest advisors for many years.

Christiansen was spokeswoman for the CDU Germany and the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, moved to the Chancellery in 2006 and worked there most recently as a media consultant and head of the department “Political Planning, Innovation and Digital Policy, Strategic IT Management”.

An entrance and an exit

FGH emphasizes that in her new role, Christiansen “will not be responsible or available for any form of lobbying”. Political influence in the interests of clients should therefore not be one of their tasks, they should bring socio-political perspectives to the advice of companies and top managers.

At the same time, a well-known partner is leaving FGH: Henriette Peucker is moving to the newly formed management team of the Association of German Banks, where she will head the “Politics and Innovation” department as deputy general manager. At Finsbury Glover Hering she was most recently responsible partner for the Brussels office. In earlier years she worked as head of public affairs for Deutsche Börse.

Finsbury Glover Hering is itself in the midst of the transformation, because the company will be supplemented by another leading American PR company: in future, the provider Sard Verbinnen will be part of it. The merger will bring the number of consultants to more than 1000, working in 25 offices in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA.

The newly merged company will soon be launched with a new name and brand, but will continue to be based in New York. FGH will continue to be managed by the former Hering-Schuppener boss Alexander Geiser.
