Dusseldorf The sluggish supply of goods from overseas means that European importers are increasingly resorting to self-help. The Düsseldorf transport agency Xstaff is gaining in importance. In addition to the Mallorcan shoe manufacturer Camper, the Neuss-based protective mask supplier Medisana and the cleaning equipment manufacturer Kärcher have also joined the logistics network in recent weeks.

The merger should get the supply bottlenecks at sea under control, hope the now 40 participating companies. The organization promises its members to use combined market power to push shipping companies to deliver more on time.

This is exactly what has been lacking massively since the beginning of the corona crisis. In many ports, containers intended for transport are left standing on the quayside because the ships intended for them are running out of storage space. For the transport of goods from Chinese warehouses to the USA, the Royal Bank of Canada calculated that the average delays increased to 74 days at the beginning of May. In Europe, the delivery situation is hardly better.
