Mercedes relies on Google

In the future, the car manufacturer will integrate Google Maps into its vehicles under its own design. YouTube is also integrated directly into the infotainment system.

The Stuttgart-based manufacturer of luxury limousines and SUVs will in future integrate Google Maps into its vehicles under its own design. The group announced this on Wednesday as part of an update on its software strategy to investors and press representatives in California.

Google’s maps are considered leaders in the industry. Due to the dominance of the Android system in smartphones, the search engine giant can access millions of anonymous location data from its users and derive extremely realistic forecasts from them, for example about traffic jams.
