Mercedes-AMG turns black again with the W14
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team unveiled the W14 vehicle that it will race in 2023. After the disappointment experienced last year, the brand, which wants to compete in the top ranks again, aims to make an assertive entry into the new season.
After using black for 2 seasons with the Black Lives Matter movement, Mercedes-AMG returned to silver with the W13 last year. However, with this season, the German racing team is returning to the black color scheme again. It was stated that the weight savings lay behind this decision. It can easily be seen that Mercedes-AMG left many parts in the new F1 vehicle as raw carbon fiber without painting.

Mercedes-AMG also retains the sidepod design that was discussed a lot last year. Unlike other teams, the company will continue to use a very narrow design in this section.
Company officials claim that they have completed all the shortcomings in their new race cars that they could not do last year due to budget constraints. In Formula 1, where engines are frozen until 2026, manufacturers are focused on weight reduction and aerodynamic improvements. Mercedes-AMG seems to have followed a similar path in this regard. The company also features a new front suspension geometry on the W14.
