Stuttgart After the sports variant of the EQS luxury-class electric car, Mercedes-AMG is now presenting its second electric performance series. The upgraded version of the EQE business sedan has an output of up to 505 kW/687 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Prices should start at around 100,000 euros.
The basic variant of the new AMG-E models is the EQE 43 4Matic with 350 kW/476 hp and 858 Nm, which sprints to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h. A permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) is located on the front and rear axles, which means that all-wheel drive is available if required. The 90.6 kWh battery in the underbody should be good for up to 533 kilometers of driving.
The EQE 53 4Matic Plus is designed more for performance than for long-distance suitability. Its motor duo has 460 kW/626 hp and 950 Nm, which reduces the sprint time to 3.5 seconds and increases the maximum speed to 220 km/h.
A “Dynamic Plus Package” is available as an option, which increases engine output to 505 kW/687 hp. The torque increases by 50 Nm. A top speed of 240 km/h and a sprint time of 3.3 seconds are possible.

However, the standard range of up to 518 kilometers should no longer be possible if these values are exhausted. All variants are charged via the standard 11 kW on-board charger, which can optionally be upgraded to 22 kW. Up to 170 kW can be accessed on the fast charger. The manufacturer specifies the power consumption as 19.7 to 23.2 kWh, depending on the version and equipment.
Visually, the AMG EQE, like the larger EQS, is relatively unobtrusive; both largely do without the usual muscle flexing of their combustion engine relatives, but are recognizable by the special front grille with vertical struts.
In line with the sporty requirements, Mercedes has also reprogrammed the driving program selection and added a race start function and an engine sound simulator, among other things. There is also a high-performance brake system and the rear axle steering known from the more civil models. The market launch should take place in the second half of the year.
In terms of price, the high-performance versions will stand out clearly from the standard EQE, which is available from 70,000 euros, but keep a respectful distance from the 560 kW/761 hp AMG EQS, which costs just under 153,000 euros.
