Medium-sized companies fear total failures in electricity and gas

Medium-sized companies in particular have difficulties in concluding new energy supply contracts. In the worst case, they have to stop their production.

Dusseldorf The upheavals on the energy market are causing more and more industrial customers to face existential difficulties. In contrast to private electricity and gas consumers, companies are not only concerned about rising prices.

As the Handelsblatt learned from discussions with several entrepreneurs and industry experts, commercial energy customers are having increasing problems even finding a connection for expiring gas or electricity contracts.

If a company’s supply contract ends without a new one being concluded, the consequences can be far more dramatic than in the case of private households. Because unlike private customers, there is not a supply obligation for all commercial customers. This means that if a company loses its gas or electricity supplier, it may not be able to get any more energy.
