Mitsubishi, the automobile giant of Japanese origin, has more than what appears in both its name and logo. Let’s see what happens, shall we?
Logos of automobile brands; Whether we are interested in cars or not, we all stuck in your mind in case.
Moreover, many of these logos are not just drawn. There are things they represent. Today, we will talk about Mitsubishi.
First, let’s start with the name Mitsubishi.
“Mitsubishi” in the name of the Japanese automobile brand Mitsubishi Motors Corporation means “three diamonds” in Japanese. “Mitsu” means “three” while “Hishi” means “water chestnut” and the Japanese use this word to describe the shape of a rhombus or diamond.
In accordance with the rules of the Japanese language, the “h” sound is bent by adding a “b” in between and the “h” sound is bent and the words “mitsu” and “hishi” are combined. From this combination, “mitsubishi” emerges.
Let’s come to the logo.
Japanese financier, samurai and founder of Mitsubishi, Ivasaki Yataro, for Mitsubishi’s logo chose the three diamond symbol. This sign actually featured more than three diamonds. Hidden inside was the three-leaf crest of the Tosa Clan, Yataro’s first employer.
As you can guess, the three diamonds that emerged were a reference to the name of his own brand. Three diamonds at the same time; quality, innovation and reliability represents.
This is how both Mitsubishi’s name and logo mean more than meets the eye. If there are other brands you want us to cover, you can write them in the comments!
