Mass production process for Gökbey has started!

While Turkey was in search of a helicopter suitable for its geographical and climatic conditions, it decided to enter into joint production with Italy’s famous AgustaWestland company, with the license rights itself. As a result, the world-famous T-129 Atak helicopter emerged. Immediately after, he developed the Gökbey helicopter, whose mass production process was started. Here are the details…

Mass production has started for Gökbey!

The T-129 Atak, which made its first flight in 2009, was developed on AgustaWesland’s A129 Mangusta helicopter. Of course, as a result of Turkey’s special requests, we can say that many parts, from design to engine, from weapon systems to software, were rebuilt from scratch.

We can say that it is a domestic and national helicopter, as Turkey currently has the license rights and can produce 100 percent domestically from its engine to its tires if it wishes, that is, there is no obstacle in front of it. Of course, this option will not be profitable for anyone. Because it will increase costs. But it seems like the only solution against possible embargoes.

Turkey is establishing a weapons factory in the USA!

Canik, one of Turkey’s famous arms manufacturers, decided to establish a factory for the US market due to legal reasons. Here are the details…

When the project was first implemented, TAI carried out production, assembly, flight tests, training, integrated and logistics support activities. ASELSAN, on the other hand, undertook mission computer production and software, avionics systems production and integration, and weapon systems procurement and integration.

As the former licensee of the previous version of the helicopter, AgustaWestland undertook tasks such as technology transfer, CTS800-4A engine replacement, automatic flight control system and helicopter systems monitoring unit.

Gökbey mass production

Of course, the triple agreement we mentioned above was valid for the first production phase. In the course of time, Turkey has increased the locality rate of this project to record levels. He also succeeded in making his own helicopter engine using his gains. It plans to use this engine in Gökbey and Atak 2 heavy class helicopters.

The first target will be to integrate it on Gökbey, whose mass production process was started this week. Because there are LHTEC engines in Atak in 3 orders given by the gendarmerie. However, in 2023, domestic TS1400 engines produced by TEI will be integrated. Then we expect to see these engines or their developed versions in the Atak 2 helicopter.
