Mark Zuckerberg apparently abandons crypto project Libra

New York, Dusseldorf Mark Zuckerberg wanted the whole world to pay with “Libra” instead of local currencies. But politicians around the world opposed the Facebook founder more decisively than ever before. Now, according to a Bloomberg report, the Libra organization, renamed the Diem Association, is likely to be dissolved. The prestige project is about to end.

The Facebook-launched crypto initiative is considering selling its assets and returning capital to investors, according to the report. Bloomberg relies on insiders. Neither the Diem organization, which moved from Geneva to the United States last year, nor Facebook commented on the report when asked by the Handelsblatt. The group also did not want to say anything about the increased pressure from US politics.
