Riga Even more than nine months after the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, not all German companies have withdrawn from Russia. The US elite university Yale lists foreign companies that, in their opinion, “just carry on as before” in Russia. Among them are 21 German companies.

In addition to medical companies such as Braun, Fresenius and Siemens Healthineers, the New Yorker fashion chain and the confectionery manufacturer Storck are also listed.

Some of the companies feel unfairly included on the list. But the Yale research team, led by economics professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld and Georgia Hirsty, countered and rated the companies with the worst school grade “F” – a straight six.

The researchers’ grades are not about whether the respective companies break the EU sanctions against Russia. It assesses the extent to which companies have reduced their business with Russia since the start of Moscow’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
