Erik ten Hag (52) is the new man on the sidelines of Manchester United. The debut of the former successful Ajax Amsterdam coach in the Premier League and at the same time the first test is at home at Old Trafford against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Portuguese caused a stir at Manchester United last weekend when he packed his bags at half-time in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano and left Old Trafford. Before the start of the Premier League, however, ten Hag stood in front of the superstar: “I’ve said it before: we planned the season with him. We have a top striker and I’m very happy that he’s here, in the squad and we’re sticking to the plan.” What does that mean?
