Manchester United Select This Altcoin For Partnership – Long Term Deal!

Manchester United, one of the world’s oldest football clubs, has approved a long-term sponsorship agreement with blockchain platform Tezos (XTZ) as a training equipment and technology partner. Tezos is expected to help Manchester United build a metaverse-based and fan-centric ecosystem.

The football club aims to introduce its fans to decentralized Web3 technology, which is gaining traction among mainstream companies and brands.

United’s first-team players and trainers will wear the Tezos-branded trainer for the first time ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Southampton.

Manchester United’s previous eight-year, £120m sponsorship contract with American insurer Aon was concluded at the end of last season. United then held talks with many other companies, including several companies in the blockchain space, and announced that it has partnered with Tezos as a result.

Tezos will pay an additional 33 percent on top of the previous deal, which was worth $27 million annually. Tezos will help the football club gain greater exposure to Web3 technologies and is expected to play an important role in the launch of various digital fan products and collectibles in the near future.

What is Tezos?

Supported by the Tezos Foundation, Tezos is a blockchain or a kind of decentralized computer network like Ethereum.

According to proponents, blockchains like Tezos can be used to process computerized transactions more efficiently than current technology and help remove costly intermediaries from the process.

While some crypto opponents emphasize that blockchain transactions require massive computing power that emits carbon, Tezos is positioning itself as a more energy efficient platform. United are believed to have done their due diligence before accepting the deal and are convinced the partners are reliable.

Many of the global sports brands are exploring blockchain and Web3-based technologies, and in addition, are looking for new ways to connect sports clubs with fans. Manchester United plans to build a fan ecosystem based on the metaverse concept on the Tezos blockchain to provide fans with personalized experiences. It is planned to use Tezos’ local presence XTZ on this platform as well.

Company officials are happy with the partnership

Victoria Timpson, CEO of alliances and partnerships at Manchester United, said:

“This is an extremely exciting partnership for Manchester United as it aligns us with one of the most advanced, reliable and sustainable blockchains in a technology space that has the potential to truly revolutionize how everyone, including the club and our fans, can interact.

In line with the club’s broader efforts to promote environmental sustainability, we are particularly pleased to partner with one of the most environmentally friendly blockchains using technology that is energy efficient, limits carbon emissions and reduces costs.

Partnerships are at the heart of our club’s strength and underpin the drive for success on the pitch. We are excited to welcome Tezos as the latest industry leader to join our family of partnerships.”

Edward Adlard, head of adoption and business development at Tezos Ecosystem, said:

“Throughout its history, Manchester United has continually evolved with the support of a huge and diverse global community of fans and partners. By leveraging the blockchain and Web3, Tezos will enable Manchester United to mobilize the commitment of fans, players, teams and partners.”

New partnerships from Tezos

Proof-of-stake blockchain Tezos has joined the growing list of blockchain companies that have made significant major sponsorship deals. According to recent reports, Tezos platform has signed sponsorship deals with Manchester United, as well as McLaren Racing in Formula 1 and the New York Mets in Major League Baseball.
