In England we like to fire coaches this time of year. So no one was surprised when Tottenham sacked Nuno Espirito Santo – who was replacing José Mourinho – after just ten games on Monday.

The Spurs are traditionally an offensive team. So why they spend millions to hire defensive Portuguese coaches and then kick them out, only the Tottenham bosses know. Or maybe not.

Now Inter master coach Antonio Conte comes to Tottenham.

Another Italian pulls the strings in the background. Clever advisor Mino Raiola could play an important role in how long Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will keep his Manchester United job as Cristiano Ronaldo’s manager.

Raiola deals with top players. His clients include Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and of course Erling Haaland. And he takes tens of millions in commissions when he moves these players between clubs.

He’s a puller. When Raiola speaks to clubs who want to attract Haaland from Dortmund, he claims ambition is more important than money.

That could be the case for the Haaland family.

But Raiola blames Solskjaer for Pogba’s staggering performance. Although the market is subject to Corona restrictions, the consultant is trying to get two huge transfers in 2022 for his golden clients.

The red or the blue Manchester? Little Erling lived in the city as a baby when his father Alf-Inge Haaland played for City.

Solskjaer trained the 16-year-old Erling in Norway. Guardiola needs a striker after Tottenham blocked the transfer of Harry Kane, who has since been a shadow of himself.

Both Manchester clubs are considering whether the release clause would pay off for them in light of two factors. The first is Haaland’s physical form. An injured hip flexor could affect the speed, strength and endurance of the 1.95 meter tall and 87 kilo heavy Haaland.

The second factor is where Raiola is pushing his client. And the account balance could not be entirely unimportant …
