Manager barometer 2022: One in four wants to quit

Dusseldorf Exploding costs, delivery problems, staff shortages, plus a pandemic and an imminent recession: Holger Krings* only wants one thing: away from his employer. Since the crisis, the head of a chemical company in the Rhineland has had to support his bosses with the upcoming restructuring. At the same time, he has to make sure that he doesn’t lose contact with his people – despite working from home and in a mood of doom.

In desperation, Krings recently turned to headhunter Lothar Grünewald – and is looking for alternatives. He knows: Krings is anything but an isolated case. “Many executives in the middle faculty want to leave right now.”

A quarter of all area and department heads currently expect to change jobs soon. This is shown by the current manager barometer by Odgers Berndtson. The HR consultancy surveyed around 1,500 executives for the study. The data is exclusively available to the Handelsblatt.
