I read in the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” that the market index for trading in luxury watches, the Subdial-50, has recently fallen by 20 percent. As a result, the prices of used but popular models are no longer significantly higher than what has to be paid for new counterparts.

In the meantime, old watches cost about six times as much. Apparently, Swiss watch manufacturers are simply releasing too few timepieces to meet demand. It remains a mystery why it attracted attention during the pandemic of all times, when both work and social events were taking place in front of screens. Did you want to see how slowly time flies? Deal with the constant winding of a barrel?

Especially since the luxury watches in question are said to only serve as eye-catchers. It’s not that easy to hold a watch in the lens of the laptop camera so that everyone recognizes the brand.
