Frankfurt Lufthansa announces the long-planned conversion of its Miles & More award program for frequent flyers. If you want to earn status as a frequent traveller, senator or member of the exclusive HON Circle, you will have to collect points instead of miles. The new regulation will take effect from January 1, 2024.
Originally, the airline had wanted to introduce the new system at the beginning of 2021. But then came the pandemic. Air traffic came to a standstill in many countries, and frequent flyer programs around the world suddenly became ineffective. Time and again, companies like Lufthansa have had to temporarily change the rules so that the most loyal customers do not lose their status and turn their backs on the airline in frustration.
