Frankfurt Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr believes that despite the current escalating infection rate, massive travel restrictions will not come again. “I assume that instead of restrictive measures as in the past 19 months, the governments are now relying on consistent rules such as 3G or 2G,” said the manager in an interview with the Handelsblatt.
Should the crisis worsen nevertheless, the group is financially equipped this time. “Even after repayment of all loans and deposits to the WSF, we still have more than three times as much liquidity as before the crisis,” said Spohr. Lufthansa repaid the remaining government aid of one billion euros on Friday morning. This means that the company is no longer in debt to the federal government or taxpayers.
