Ulrich Montgomery is known for escalation. On a talk show he recently spoke of a “tyranny of the unvaccinated”. Now the President of the World Doctors went one better: he came up against the fact that “little judges stand up and, as in Lower Saxony, do 2G in retail,” said Montgomery in an interview.

In a pandemic, flaming appeals can help wake up those unwilling to vaccinate. Because this is not the business of the new Chancellor Olaf Scholz and politicians have gambled away a lot of credit in the course of the pandemic, others have to take over the job of the wake-up call: virologists – and yes, association representatives like Montgomery.

In fact, Montgomery can talk very vividly about the pandemic. Only he regularly shoots far beyond any target. With his polemical statements, he divides society, plays social groups off against each other and thus causes the opposite of what he actually wants to achieve: to overcome the skepticism of those who refuse to be vaccinated.
