Dusseldorf The Schwarz Group is a secretive company. And Europe’s largest retailer becomes even more monosyllabic when it comes to detailed figures on the economic situation of its most important subsidiary: the discounter Lidl.
But now the company has published some data for parts of the extremely nested group in the Federal Gazette. These allow conclusions to be drawn about sales and profits in the past financial year. Accordingly, the discounter is not only growing significantly, it also earns well – and is putting its fiercest rival Aldi under increasing pressure.
According to a publication in the electronic Federal Gazette, the turnover of the Lidl Foundation in the 2020/2021 financial year, which ended on February 28, rose from 56.8 billion euros to 62.3 billion euros. That is a growth of 9.7 percent.
