Judge Extends SBF’s Communication Restraint Injunction

Bankruptcy in the last weeks of last year FTX stock exchange’s bankruptcy judge refused to allow the bankrupt CEO Sam Bankman-Fried to use certain messaging apps.

According to the news published in Reuters, one of the world’s largest news agencies, New York Southern District judge Lewis Kaplan announced that he extended the injunction to ban Bankman-Fried from using encrypted messaging applications.

Last month, Judge Kaplan blocked SBF from using messaging programs on a bail condition. Bankman-Fried On the other hand, during his meeting with the prosecutors on February 1, he made a series of talks about stretching this measure to use platforms such as Facebook, Whatsapp and Messenger.

Although the sunken CEO agreed with a group of prosecutors handling the case, the decision was vetoed by Judge Kaplan. Allegedly, Lewis Kaplan said the following after yesterday’s hearing:

“Some ways of communication are still open for Mr. Bankman-Fried. Free to use tools such as e-mail or text mail. These tools do not involve any risk.”

Why Was SBF Communications Restricted?

Former CEO Bankman-Fried, who is the main defendant in the FTX case, faces felony charges. To change the course of the legal process, SBF contacted former FTX employees via its encrypted messaging app Signal.
