West Palm Beach In the US, District Judge Bruce Reinhart has ruled in favor of unsealing “portions of the affidavit” setting out the grounds for the search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. This could publicly justify the FBI raid.

Reinhart’s order appeared to mark a victory for news organizations who faced off against federal prosecutors in federal court in West Palm Beach on Thursday. They were able to convince Judge Bruce Reinhard that the public interest in the affidavit outweighed the benefits of secrecy.

The Justice Department refuses to release the Mar-a-Lago Statement, even in redacted form. Jay Bratt, the department’s head of counterintelligence and export control, told the judge releasing the statement was not in the public interest because it could harm the ongoing investigation.
