Job World: Toxic Colleagues – Seven Guys You Should Stay Away From

annoying colleagues

Whether they’re free riders or micromanagers, they don’t have to tolerate unfair behavior from their colleagues. The psychologist Tessa West advises not to shy away from conflicts, but to address problems immediately.

Berlin In the course of a career you will always meet people who make your working life difficult. This can be the arrogant boss who is only interested in his own opinion. Or the colleague who never gets involved himself, but loudly claims every good idea from others as his own.

Tessa West, a professor of social psychology at New York University, has studied conflict in the workplace for many years. In her book Jerks at Work: Toxic Coworkers and What to do About Them she defined seven toxic work personalities. You can find them here – including tips on how best to deal with them.
