Munich “We are now with the questions of the court.”: The presiding judge Markus Födisch makes it unmistakably clear what is on the agenda for this Wednesday in the Wirecard trial. “I decide myself whether I interrupt your client or not,” he puts star defense attorney Alfred Dierlamm in his place.

The lawyer for the Wirecard boss had just advised Födisch: “Just wait a moment”, and asked him to “really let his client finish now”.

But Födisch has heard enough from Markus Braun for the time being. For two days, the ex-Wirecard CEO, who was accused of fraud, breach of trust and market manipulation, last described his view of the multi-billion dollar fraud that led to the demise of Wirecard in front of the Munich district court.

The man who was at the helm of Wirecard for 18 years and sees himself as a victim asserts that he didn’t notice anything about it.
