Italy is still negotiating the sale of ITA to Lufthansa

Rome According to an insider, the Italian government is extending exclusive talks with Germany’s Lufthansa about joining the state airline ITA Airways. The Ministry of Finance in Rome has agreed with Lufthansa to extend the negotiations until May 12, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.

Lufthansa is negotiating the purchase of 40 percent of ITA, the stake is valued at around 200 million euros. It is planned to later sell the remaining ITA shares to Lufthansa.

Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr had promised a decision by Monday (April 24th). Until then, the Italian government had promised Lufthansa exclusive negotiations. Originally, a conclusion had been targeted by Easter.
