The federal government wants Germany to be climate-neutral by 2045. In order for this ambitious goal to be achieved, property owners should also help to save energy. After all, according to federal estimates, buildings are responsible for 40 percent of CO2 emissions.

On top of that, many people want to become independent of oil and gas for heating. Because their prices can always rise rapidly, as the war in Ukraine and the Russian delivery stops have shown. However, environmentally friendly and energy-saving heating systems are in demand and the Federal Ministry of Economics has made the public even more unsettled with poorly communicated new rules for replacing old boilers.

In an interview with the energy expert of the Federal Association of Consumer Advice Centers, Martin Brandis, the Handelsblatt clarifies who must act now.
