Is the Dax threatened with a hard correction? Two risks and four opportunities

Dusseldorf Since the most recent Dax rally in February lost momentum and moved sideways, concerns about a correction have been growing. In the new episode of Today Extended, Handelsblatt stock analyst Ulf Sommer talks to host Sandra Groeneveld about six factors that are likely to have a significant impact on the leading German index this year.

Sommer cites inflation and rising interest rates as risks. Above all, the slowdown in economic growth in the USA, the most important sales market for the Dax companies, represents a major risk.

But he also sees a number of opportunities for further price gains: “There is potential for the Dax to rise if the profit prospects for companies continue to improve,” explains Sommer. Lower energy prices and catch-up effects in China following the opening of the markets could contribute to this.
