Dusseldorf A draft law by the federal government is causing a lot of concern among consumers these days: from next year, every newly installed heating system is to be operated with 65 percent renewable energy. A pure gas heating or oil heating can then no longer be easily reinstalled. Instead, in most cases it will end up with a heat pump.

Green politicians have been emphasizing for days: The new gas heating only seems cheaper at first glance. In the long term, it could be the more expensive option due to higher heating costs. Is this argument correct? The Federation of Consumer Organizations has created a sample calculation for at least one specific case, which shows how expensive which type of heating can be in the long term.
