It must be the dream of many: spend the winter in the warm south and do your job from there. But you should calculate carefully beforehand.

Frankfurt “60 days vacation – to save energy in the sun of North Africa”, advertises the travel company FTI. “In times of home office, the trend towards long-term vacations is no longer just for pensioners,” says Tui. People take longer vacations. The prospect of having to spend a lot of money on heating the home and hot water in winter seems to be fueling this trend.

“The demand for long-term vacations has increased,” reports Aage Dünhaupt, spokesman for Tui Germany. On the one hand, more people would combine vacation and work, the so-called workation. On the other hand, destinations such as Turkey or Egypt have opened up to long-term holidaymakers this winter with very reasonable prices.
