After a long and exciting event, Apple introduced the developer beta of iOS 18. Like the previous version, this version is freely available to anyone who is not a developer. Think carefully before installing this software on the devices you use on a daily basis. Additionally, it may not include all the features that will be included in the final version. Your experience may vary depending on the apps you use. And finally, if you decide to install it, we recommend backing up your data in case things go wrong.
New Features Coming with iOS 18
The new iOS version offers many new and cool features as usual. This version will also include Apple’s new artificial intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, which will be available in the fall. In addition, there are innovations such as a more customizable home screen and Control Center, authorization requirement for certain applications, a more expressive Messages application and a greatly renewed Photos application.
Devices Supporting iOS 18
According to Apple, iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will run on the following devices. (However, the beta of Apple Intelligence will only run in US English in the fall on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 or newer processors.)

Apple has made it easier than ever to install beta versions of iOS and iPadOS. Here’s what you need to do (these instructions are for iOS, but they’re almost the same for iPadOS):
- First, make sure your iPhone is running iOS 16.4 or newer (you can check by going to Settings > General > About).
- If you are not yet registered for the developer beta, you can sign up here. After signing up, go to the developer site, log in and select Download. (Don’t forget to enable Developer Mode in Settings > Privacy & Security.)
- Go back to Settings > General > Software Update. You should see the Beta Updates option right below Automatic Updates. Select Beta Updates and make sure you have the correct Apple ID at the bottom of the screen. If not, use a different Apple ID by tapping on the ID.
- Under Beta Updates, select iOS 18 Developer Beta (or iPadOS 18 Developer Beta).
- After completing this process, go back one screen to Settings > General > Software Update. You should see your beta update there; Select Download and Install and follow the instructions.
By following these steps, you can easily install the iOS 18 developer beta on your device. Remember, beta versions may contain bugs and affect your device’s performance.
