Investors put 151 billion euros in index funds

According to the experts, there could be up to 4.5 million savings plans by the end of the year – in Germany alone.

Frankfurt The run on exchange-traded index funds has never been greater. According to estimates by the Morningstar fund agency, investors in Europe had invested 151 billion euros in ETFs by mid-December. That is almost half more than last year – a record.

It was also a record year worldwide. In Europe, almost three quarters of new money went into products on stock indices. “2021 was also a very good year for the stock markets,” recalls Ali Masarwah, analyst at the Envestor fund platform.

In Germany, business is increasingly driven by savings plans, a booming market. “For many private individuals, this is the perfect solution for their own provision, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in this area,” believes the expert Masarwah.
