Internet Rumors – Nintendo Makes the Switch Cheaper! – Game news

Good news for all Nintendo fans: The Switch game console should be cheaper. Last Friday evening, the French news service Nintend’Alerts reported that the console should soon be offered for 270 euros.

Various insiders confirmed this rumor over the weekend. Nintendo actually seems to be planning a price cut for the standard model of the Switch. The only thing that remains unclear is how far the price will drop. Some sources speak of a recommended retail price of 270 euros, others even of 250 euros.

The reason for the price adjustment seems to be the launch of the new switch model with an OLED screen. It should go on sale from October 8th, then cost 429 euros. The model sold so far currently has a recommended retail price of 329 euros.

Nintendo reported on June 30, 2021 that it had sold over 89 million Switch consoles. This makes the Switch one of the most successful consoles of all time.

Still too little replenishment

In the past few months, however, there have been repeated delivery problems at the Switch. Like the whole tech industry, Nintendo is struggling with problems with chip replenishment and extremely high transport costs from Asia to Europe.

The console has already been sold for over 400 euros, partly used. With the new OLED model, too, the demand seems to be much greater than the supply. Currently the Price comparison Idealo the console at prices up to 650 euros.

When asked by BILD, Nintendo did not comment on the new price of the Switch or the demand situation. At the beginning of September, however, the company said to BILD: “Our goal is – despite possible challenges in terms of supply chain management and transport – to produce enough consoles to meet the demand for Nintendo Switch.”
