Insiders & companies about the application process, salary & advancement

In this series, we examine well-known employer brands from the company and employee perspective. This time it’s about BASF.

Many chemical companies are attractive employers, offering high salaries and comfortable working conditions. According to the industry association, employees earn an average of 71,306 euros, around 5,000 euros more than in the automotive industry and a good 10,000 euros more than in mechanical engineering.

So it’s not surprising that BASF, the chemical company with the highest turnover in the world, repeatedly stands out positively in applicant rankings. Around 111,000 employees already work for the chemical giant, almost half of them in Germany. And the people of Ludwigshafen want to keep growing.

According to its own statements, BASF hired a low four-digit number of new employees in Germany in the first half of 2022, not including trainees. In July alone, the group recently advertised more than 900 jobs externally, with the areas of engineering, research and development, and production being particularly in demand.
