Inflation concerns weigh on Wall Street as investors sell airline stocks

new York Another surge in inflation in the US is stoking investor concerns about higher interest rates and a collapsing economy. The US dollar received a tailwind from this on Wednesday, while the euro slipped below par with the US currency for the first time since 2002.

The European stock markets went down noticeably, while prices on Wall Street struggled a little over the course of the year. The Dow Jones index was 0.3 percent lower at 30,874 points in the morning, the broader S&P 500 lost 0.1 percent to 3815 points. The index of the technology exchange Nasdaq was 0.2 percent higher at 11,287 points.

June inflation data from the US fueled investor speculation that the US Federal Reserve would aggressively raise interest rates again. At 9.1 percent, inflation in the USA was significantly higher than expected compared to the same month last year.
