Increase in Tobacco Products and Alcohol is at the Door

The prices of cigarettes and alcoholic products are quite expensive in Turkey. The number of smokers is quite high when we look at the rate in the population. Almost 30% of Turkeyuses tobacco products every day. Therefore, the hikes are disturbing a significant part of the citizens.

What we will talk about is the expectation of a raise that will cause the same discomfort. Özgür Aybaş, President of the Turkish Monopoly Dealers Platform, stated that a hike in alcohol and cigarettes is expected in his recent statements. The main reason for the hikes is the dollar rate, as you can imagine.

At least 2 TL hike for cigarettes

TTBP Chairman Özgür Aybaş mentioned that cost and exchange rate hikes for cigarettes and alcohol are on the way. Stating that the SCT paid on alcohol will also increase, Aybaş used the following expressions for the price increase that will be experienced by cigarettes: “The raise rate is at least 2 TL, but 3-5 TL is also spoken. Cigarettes will exceed 20 TL.”

Aybaş stated that it was impossible not to get a raise and continued his statements over stocking. “Now, since alcohol drinks are imported and there is a problem in importing in general, many companies do not have a product. We can get limited. We don’t think it’s hoarding.” Aybaş emphasized the ‘no product’ situation experienced in different sectors.

Estimating that the hikes will increase the demand for illegal and under the counter cigarette and alcohol suppliers, Özgür Aybaş said, “As monopoly dealers, we are a little sociologists. Leakage will increase due to price hikes. Deaths have started due to ethyl alcohol. It is impossible to not have a raise. This situation will increase the leakage and the bottom of the stairs” He concluded his statements with his statements.
