According to the RKI, 74.4 percent of people (61.8 million) now have basic protection, which usually requires two injections. So far, according to the information, 45.1 million people in Germany (54.2 percent) have also received a booster vaccination. 75.9 percent of the population (63.2 million) received at least one vaccine dose. Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s (SPD) goal of vaccinating 80 percent of the population against Corona at least once by the end of January was missed by a wide margin at the beginning of the week.
There are large differences between the federal states in the number of booster vaccinations administered. At the top is Schleswig-Holstein, where 62.1 percent of people have already received a booster. Saxony brings up the rear, where this affects 43.8 percent of the people.
The RKI has long pointed out that the figures shown are to be understood as minimum vaccination rates. A hundred percent coverage by the reporting system cannot be achieved. The RKI assumes that the actual vaccination rate is up to five percentage points higher than indicated on the dashboard.
