In Las Vegas, visitors experience Elon Musk’s tunnel vision

This is how Elon Musk imagined it: a demonstration tunnel in Los Angeles in 2018. The reality is different.

Las Vegas Steve is excited. “There’s nothing better than this mode of transportation,” says the driver of the loop route in Las Vegas. He is one of several dozen chauffeurs with whom visitors to the leading technology trade fair CES can experience another future vision of Elon Musk below the site: tunnels in which cars escape from traffic jams and carry passengers through the city at lightning speed.

Through the city, that means in Las Vegas: over 2.5 kilometers. The twelve-metre-deep stretch below the congress center has three stations. It is the first public track from the Boring Company, which was founded in late 2016. It is driven on with the Tesla models X and Y, which come up at the two end stations.
