IAA Transportation: Electric trucks dominate the commercial vehicle trade fair

Hanover The future of freight transport is in Hall 12: MAN is presenting its new eTruck at the commercial vehicle trade fair in Hanover. A purely battery-powered vehicle with a daily range of 800 kilometers, which is to be delivered to customers for the first time in two years. Mercedes in Hall 19 is already one step further with its battery truck: Amazon and Rhenus Transport are already the first buyers for the “eActros Longhaul”.

At the IAA Transportation, the most important commercial vehicle manufacturers are showing what freight transport should look like without a diesel engine. It is becoming increasingly clear: the battery will become more established as a drive type; the hydrogen-based fuel cell will have a harder time. One thing is certain: the truck industry is under pressure. According to the current EU regulations, it must reduce the CO2 emissions of its fleets by 15 percent by 2025, and 30 percent are under discussion for 2030. This cannot be achieved without new drives.
