After three draws, the loan professional from Manchester City (stays until the end of the season) shot HSV in Paderborn to a 2-1 victory. In the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Coach Tim Walter (45) substituted Doyle in the 90th minute for the ailing Sonny Kittel (28 / was able to train again on Sunday). For the English U21 international, it was only the third mini-appearance for Hamburg.

When can Doyle finally get it right?

Jonas Boldt (39) also enjoys the youngster with the right magic foot. When the sports board was asked the day after the three-point what Doyle was still missing for more playing time, he replied with a wink: “An earlier substitution maybe …”

In Aue (1: 1), Doyle had prepared the last-minute compensation for his three-minute mission. He was substituted on in the 86th minute against Düsseldorf (1: 1).

Boldt: “Of course I would like to see Tommy a bit longer. But I don’t attend every training session, the coach thinks about it.”

And further: “If he continues like this, he will certainly get the chance to play more with the coach.”

That would make sense, because Doyle has a quality that too few have at HSV. He can score. He shows that again and again in training.

Apart from center forward Robert Glatzel (27, six goals) and all-rounder Moritz Heyer (26, five goals), no professional has scored more than once this season. In addition to Doyle, there are Bakery Jatta (23), David Kinsombi (25), Kittel, Ludovit Reis (21) and Captain Sebastian Schonlau (27).

Thanks to the Doyle-Schlenzer, the Hamburg team climbed to 6th place. Boldt: “Success was very important for the table. Wins give you the belief that you are on the right track.”

In the coming days, HSV will be put to the test twice. Tuesday (8.45 p.m.) in the 2nd round of the cup in Nuremberg. Saturday in the north duel against Kiel.
